Tomorrow I catch a flight back to Maine. These four weeks went by in a flash. It feels so natural to be in Madrid, as if I never left in 2010. But the upcoming school year (and my husband) calls and there's a lot of work to be done. Using real websites in activities is a great way to incorporate authentic materials and assess the interpretive standard. Studying the house? Or living in the city? There is a great website in Spain called idealista.com where students can search for apartments. Give them specifications like - must have elevator or air conditioning - plus a price and set them loose. I have my students print a copy of the listing they choose and answer a few questions in English about it.
